V I N T A G E  D I S H

Presentation is everything – afterall we eat with our eyes first. So I thought it would be fun to embellish tea sandwiches for a rose garden tea.

}  Artisan bread, from your favorite bakery

}  Cream cheese, with flavorful herbs

}  Cherry tomatoes

}  Basil Leaves

5 }  Round cookie cutter and a sharp knife

First, make the tomato roses. Just peel it in one long spiral and roll the desired length into the shape of a rose. Here is a video link to watch. Next using the cookie cutter, cut out a circle from the bread. Spread a thick layer of cream cheese (hummus would work well also for a non-dairy alternative). Add the tomato rosette and a couple of freshly picked basil leaves (from your garden or local grocer).

I'm also going to try these rosettes with smoked salmon. Won't be your ordinary lox on a bagel!
